How to Connect Twitter App from Make.com: A User Guide

Have you ever wanted to post images from Google Photos to Twitter using Make.com, but encountered an error? You're not alone. Many users have faced this issue, and it can be quite frustrating, especially if you're not familiar with coding. But don't worry, we've got a solution for you.

The Problem

When trying to connect to the Twitter app from Make.com and post an image, some users have encountered an error message that reads: “The request failed due to failure of a previous request.” This error is accompanied by a status code error: 403. This can be quite confusing, especially if you've already obtained the API key and API secret from Twitter Developer and entered them on Make.com.

The Solution

After much trial and error, a solution has been found. The key is to ensure that you're connected with your Twitter account in the same browser when you make the connection. Here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. After you have the API Key and API Key Secret, search for Twitter (Legacy) and add the Upload A Media module. To the connection, add the API Key and API Key Secret (not client ID and client secret) generated by the app you created on the developer portal.
  2. Search for Twitter but not LEGACY modules and add the Create a Tweet module. To the connection, add the Client ID and Client Secret generated by the app you created on the developer portal.

After the connection is done, all you have to do is map Media Ids from the Upload a Media module.

Troubleshooting Tips

If you're still having trouble, make sure to add both the v5 and v6 Callback URI / Redirect URL in the User authentication setup in Twitter developer for your project app. Also, ensure your project app is the one free use for v1.1 + v2 access too.

Conclusion

With these steps, you should be able to connect to the Twitter app from Make.com and post images without any issues. Remember, the key is to ensure that you're connected with your Twitter account in the same browser when you make the connection. Happy tweeting!
